      OUR MOST IMPORTANT INGREDIENT:

      TRANSPARENCY

As a family-owned company, we strive for outstanding quality and the highest sustainability standards, taking on both, ecological and social responsibility. This guiding principle has shaped our actions for over 60 years. That is why we embrace our heritage as bio-medical cosmetics. That is why we produce in an all-electric factory. That is why we scrutinize every single formula. However, we are not perfect yet.

“The company was founded as ‘bio-medical cosmetics’ in 1956—long before sustainability was ‘en vogue’,” says co-owner Isabel Bonacker. “The firm belief that sustainability in all its facets is crucial for the company’s success is deeply embedded in our DNA.” The company has often been ahead of its time: In the 1990s, BABOR launched a refillable jar, implemented waste management and water microfiltration at a time when sustainability efforts were still met with skepticism. Over a decade ago, the first EV charging station in the region was installed in front of the Aachen headquarters. Today, there are more than 80 charging stations available for employees to use free of charge, and the company follows a 100 % e-car policy. “We do not work for short-term profit, but for long term success —one that benefits the next generation as well,” says Isabel Bonacker. “As a family business, we believe in the power of sustainable business practices. We are not perfect, and not everything works on the first try, but we are 110% committed to following this path.”

In 2018, our company’s sustainability ambitions were consolidated into a Green Agenda, a roadmap valid until 2025, covering goals for carbon emissions, sustainable packaging, and clean ingredients. This agenda continues to shape our sustainability efforts today. Moving forward, it is seamlessly integrated and evolved within our overarching corporate strategy.
